Wilpattu National Park - Famous for bird and leopard photography

    Wilpattu means natural lakes, is the largest park in Sri Lanka. It’s a highly thick dry zone jungle surrounded by lakes.

    The unique feature of this park is the existence of "Willus" (Natural lakes) - Natural, sand-rimmed water basins. Nearly sixty lakes (Willu) and tanks are found spread throughout Wilpattu.

    Park has impressive variety of flora in huge expanses of forest, and varied wildlife, including deer, elephants, wild boar, sloth bears and leopards.

    Its truly a place for dedicated safari-goer. Birders in particular will love Wilpattu with its abundance of dry forest, water and even coastal birds.
