WILD GUJARAT

    DURATION: 10 DAYS

GROUP SIZE: 4 CLIENTS PER GROUP

HIGHLIGHTS: ASIATIC LIONS/ WILD ASS/ CROSS DESERT DRIVE

Gujarat is the only place in the world where one gets to see Asiatic Lions in the wild. It is also the last refuge for the Indian Wild Ass. The beauty of this tour is to explore two very distinct landscapes along with photographing the majestic Lions and the one of the fastest Indian animals.

LOCATION ONE: LITTLE RANN OF KUTCH

    TRAVEL DETAILS:

From Delhi: On arrival at Delhi airport, travel by flight to Ahmedabad. From Ahmedabad travel to Little Rann of Kutch by road (Approximately 5 hours)

    ABOUT:

Little Rann of Kutch is a unique geographical landscape with a vast, featureless plain encrusted with salt. During the rains, this dry and hard desert is inundated with water. The area has been declared as the Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary and is the last place on earth for these animals. There are small higher ground areas of the ancient sea bed which are covered with grass and shrubs. These limited green patches support the wildlife in the region. Largely, it’s a flat barren desert with small hissing sandstorms. In these backdrops you will be photographing the Wild Asses galloping in the dust.

Safaris are conducted in the mornings and evenings and you have the option of either doing a jeep safari or a camel safari.

    LOCATION TWO: GIR NATIONAL PARK

    TRAVEL DETAILS:

From Little Rann of Kutch, travel by road to Ahmedabad. Overnight stay in Ahmedabad. From Ahmedabad, travel by road to Gir the next day (340 kms, 7 hrs)

    ABOUT:

Home to the only population of the Asiatic Lions, Gir National Park is a dry teak jungle with dry deciduous scrubs and savannah forests. These forests are also home to the world’s only four horned antelope. Gir also boasts a large variety of birds and reptiles. You can also spot the rare Pangolin in these habitats. The lions in Gir can be spotted easily lazing in prides. These animals are used to close proximity to humans, which makes their behavior very different from their African counterparts.
