  • CWC History
For the past 8 years, Wild Clicks along with Canon India has been celebrating the spirit of wildlife and nature photography in India by churning out the brightest and finest talent through the medium of this unique competition which gives you the opportunity to interact with leading edge photographers on the field and is also an avenue to showcase photographic skills to a mass audience owing to the massive reach the contest has been able to achieve because of its popularity on online and offline media.

The concept of Wild Clicks kick-started with Nature Wanderers organizing the first edition of the competition in Corbett National Park in 2010. Under the able guidance of wildlife film-maker Mike Pandey, the competition has grown in stature, participation and reputation. Leading names in the photography and wildlife circuit including Gobind Sagar Bharadwaj, Ganesh H Shankar, Nalla Muthu, Bittu Sahgal and Jagdeep Rajput have played a critical role in judging this competition. We have been revamping and renovating the format every year keeping the basic essence and aesthetics alive - presence of mind and ability of a photographer to perform under challenging situations.

  • Little Rann of Kutch
A salt marsh and a part of the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, the Little Rann of Kutch is one of India's hidden wild secrets. The Rann of Kutch is a geographically unique landscape that was once an arm of the Arabian Sea. As the land separated from the sea by geological forces, it became a vast, featureless plain encrusted with salt that is inundated with water during the rains. The last refuge of the Indian wild ass, the area has been declared as a Wild Ass Sanctuary and winters makes the region a haven for birds. Lesser and greater flamingos, a host of raptors including the peregrine falcon, steppe eagles, vultures and the enigmatic macqueen's or houbara bustard - are some of the specialities of the region.

The safari across the Little Rann visits the 'bets', islands on the ancient seabed that are now higher grounds covered with grass and scrub. The elegant blackbuck (Indian antelope), nilgai or blue bull (India's largest antelope) and the graceful chinkara (Indian gazelle) are other mammals seen at the bets. The main carnivores of the Little Rann of Kutch are the endangered Indian wolf, desert fox, Indian fox, jackals, desert and jungle cats, and a few hyenas. Smaller mammals like hares, gerbilles and hedgehogs, and reptiles like spiny tailed lizard, monitor, red and common sand boa, saw-scaled viper, cobra, dhaman (Indian rat snake), etc, could also be seen during the safaris in the Rann.

The themes of Wild Clicks 8 have been formulated keeping in mind a lot of creativity which can stem out from the magnificent landscape and biodiversity of Little Rann of Kutch.
