Established in 2010, Wild Clicks is India’s only live wildlife photography contest, where photographers from across the country shoot on defined themes within a set timeframe under the guidance of top mentors and a live jury.
Overview
Established in 2010, Wild Clicks is India’s only live photography contest where photographers from across the country gather in a location and shoot as per themes for a defined time frame. These photographers undergo sessions with their mentors who are some of India’s finest wildlife photographers and in the presence of a live jury they submit their entries and the winners are announced on the last day.
Wild Clicks has been nominated twice as the Wildlife Promotion activity of the year in 2014 and 2018 at the TOFT Wildlife Tourism Awards. Over the years, India’s leading wildlife film makers, conservationists, photographers have been a part of this mega event in the capacity of Jury and Mentors.
Photography is a powerful tool for conservation as it helps spreading awareness about the natural world and conservation issues to a larger audience. Wild Clicks has played a pivotal role in changing the mindset of photographers when it comes to wildlife photography and story telling as contestants put in the hard work and commitment to focus on the given themes rather than randomly running after keystone species.
Wild Clicks has also played a key role in development of wildlife tourism in a lot of upcoming national parks of India. Some of the above editions have been executed in collaboration with state governments, forest departments and tourism boards.
History of Wild Clicks
For the past 10 editions, Wild Clicks has been celebrating the spirit of wildlife and nature photography in India by churning out the brightest and finest talent through the medium of this unique competition which gives you the opportunity to interact with leading edge photographers on the field and is also an avenue to showcase photographic skills to a mass audience owing to the massive reach Wild Clicks has been able to achieve because of its popularity on online and offline media.
The concept of Wild Clicks kick-started with Nature Wanderers organizing the first edition of the competition in Corbett National Park in 2010. Under the able guidance of wildlife film-maker Mike Pandey, the competition has grown in stature, participation and reputation. Every edition of Wild Clicks has seen a revamping and renovating of the format keeping the basic essence and aesthetics alive – presence of mind and ability of a photographer to perform under challenging situations.
